ABOUT THE BOARD

As a non-profit and volunteer-led organization, we understand the importance of being flexible with our requirements! As such, PCA board members serve until they resign or are removed, both of which can happen at any time.

​

All are welcome to submit nominations for a board position, and board elections are held annually and are open to the public.

​

BOARD ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

PRESIDENT

Purpose: Keep PCA's mission on track throughout the year.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help set annual goals and track progress.

  • Facilitate board meetings and keep decisions moving.

  • Represent PCA publicly with warmth and clarity.

  • Welcome and guide new board members; help with annual elections.

  • Ensure PCA meets legal and compliance needs (bylaws, 501(c)(6), insurance).

 

Time Commitment: ~5 hrs/week off-season; 10+ hrs/week leading up to events.

SPONSORS

Purpose: Secure and nurture sponsor relationships to fund PCA events.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain outreach pipeline; conduct 10+ outbound touches per quarter.

  • Maintain PCA sponsorship tiers and ROI sheet.

  • Lead sponsor communications from initial contact to post-event recap.

  • Manage sponsor-related content shared with the community through collaboration with the Marketing Chair

  • Coordinate with Marketing and Logistics for logo placements and booths.

  • Track sponsor engagement and share insights post-event with the board.

 

Time Commitment: 1-2 hrs/week off-cycle; 10+ hrs/week leading up to events.

EMPLOYER RELATIONS

Purpose: Connect employers to PCA's community and programming.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Map and engage with local PM leaders; host quarterly hangouts.

  • Maintain a list of PM-hiring companies.??

  • Organize a yearly recruiting round-up event.??

  • Collect employer feedback quarterly to inform programming.

  • Refer warm sponsor leads to the Sponsorship Chair.

 

Time Commitment: 1–2 hrs/week off-cycle; 10+ hrs/week leading up to events.

SESSIONS

Purpose: Curate and manage peer-led content sessions at PCA (un)conferences.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify trending PM topics and recruit diverse speakers.

  • Share templates, best practices, and A/V tips.

  • Run session voting and room assignments.

  • Report on content performance and attendee top picks.

  • Lead 3–4 volunteers for speaker support.

 

Time Commitment: 1–2 hrs/week off-cycle; 10+ hrs/week leading up to events.

LOGISTICS

Purpose: Turn PCA (un)conferences plan into reality

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Book venues, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relations.

  • Oversee operations for registration, A/V, catering, and setup.

  • Coordinate with Community Chair to organize day-of volunteers for key support roles.

  • Order materials like badges, signage, and swag and keep track of inventory.

  • Maintain the project timeline and task coordination.

  • Collect feedback on venue/vendor performance and volunteer coordination.

 

Time Commitment: 1–2 hrs/week off-cycle; 10+ hrs/week leading up to events.

MARKETING (Vacant)

Purpose: Own PCA’s brand and marketing strategies to grow awareness, attendance, and sponsor value.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Keep PCA messaging consistent and engaging.

  • Plan email, social, and campaign calendars.

  • Maintain our website and social presence.

  • Share regular updates on engagement metrics.

  • Maintain and audit campaign tools and integrations (e.g., Eventbrite → Mailchimp for registration follow-up).

 

Time Commitment: 1–2 hrs/week off-cycle; 10+ hrs/week leading up to events.

COMMUNITY (NEW! Vacant)

Purpose: Create a memorable (un)conference day experience with high energy and strong networking and keep the PCA community connected and active between flagship events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Run mini-events: AMAs, roundtables, and Slack meetups.

  • Design activities like icebreakers and session matchmaking.

  • Keep our online platforms active and experiment with new community tools.

  • Maintain a shared “PM Toolkit” with helpful resources.

  • Track and report on engagement and event satisfaction with the board.

  • Run post-event surveys and share insights.

  • Seek and train day-of volunteer captains.

 

Time Commitment: ~5 hrs/week off-season; 10+ hrs/week leading up to events.

TREASURER (Vacant)

Purpose: Ensure PCA’s financial health and legal compliance.

​

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Build an annual budget; track actuals vs. plan.

  • Pay vendors, invoice sponsors, reconcile accounts monthly.

  • File IRS and state franchise forms on time.

  • Share clear financial snapshots with the board.

  • Manage expense approvals and dual-signature policy.

 

Time Commitment: 1–2 hrs/week; +3 hrs in filing months

AT-LARGE (Vacant)

Purpose: Act as a flexible contributor across initiatives and committees.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead one-off projects (e.g., special surveys, tech audit).

  • Vote on board matters and offer fresh perspectives.

  • Support other members as needed during peak cycles.

 

Time Commitment: 1–2 hrs/week; varies by project
